Study of St. Barbara from Raphael’s “The Sistine Madonna”

I was reading Dostoevsky’s “The Adolescent” and the Sistine Madonna was mentioned. In the notes to the novel it states that he owned an engraving of it and the painting is mentioned in some of his other novels. Intrigued, I googled the painting and was stunned. Naturally, I had to do a master study of it. I figure the mother of God is venerated enough so I painted St. Barbara. She is the patron saint of miners, artillerymen and others who work with explosives.

I am colourblind (deuteranopia) and found out that the area on the right that I painted red is green in the original. I was thinking about painting that section again but people are constantly spouting about “the artist” and his “unique vision”, so there – you can have my perspective and see it through my eyes. Devil take the colour green!
